I absolutely love putting together floral displays. I usually go to Trader Joe’s (everyone’s best friend) and pick up an array of whatever they have on hand that looks inspiring, then go out into my own yard and cut some trimmings from anything out there. I’ve used clippings from our olive tree, bougainvillea, oleanders, or any other greenery that seemed like it might add a nice touch. My daughter Christine has a lovely eye for putting florals together, so I asked her to help me throw something together as an example…
The trick to putting flowers into any odd container you feel inspired to use, is to find a vase that will fit into the pot, basket, box, etc. that you are using and then try to cleverly hide it (as I also did here)…
Simply mix in the flowers with the greens from your yard and evenly spread them around and over the edges of the basket to hide the vase that is inside…
And, there you have it. It looks like a basket of collected flowers, but they will stay fresh in the vase hidden inside. What a happy little bundle to have in your home or give to a friend!
Well, our first full day was a busy one to be sure! We shopped and shopped and shopped and then finally sat down for a delicious meal at one of our favorite spots to eat, the Spotted Pig. We are off for more fun today, but thought we would share a few pics we snapped while out and about on the town all day yesterday! Here’s to another good day!
Any suggestions of somewhere we shouldn’t miss while we are here?

Once again for Christmas, we had our adult holiday dinner that I host at my home. (Like I said, it’s been a crazy year and I’m a little behind…) It’s wonderful to be able to spend some grown-up time together during the holidays. We have drinks and appetizers, sit down for dinner together, have a gift exchange, play games, indulge in dessert and just have a great time laughing and talking and being together. This year my best friend, Laurie was able to come from California to help me decorate and get all set up for the party (and to join in the festivities, as well!). We have so much fun doing this sort of thing together! It was a great night with ridiculous games and lots of laughs! Even though it was almost two months ago, I thought I would share some pictures now anyway.
Better late than never, right?
