having the most fun!

Just stopping in to say hi!  We were reunited in Paris with our daughter Emily!  It was so great to see her!  We’re having a wonderful time!  See you soon!

two more babies on the way…

Our 20th and 21st grandbabies are due this summer and we couldn’t be more excited to meet these two little lovely girls!  So fun that they are both having girls and these two little cousins will be able to grow up being such sweet little pals.  I was in my craft room a couple weeks ago and came across my pile of Shabby Chic samples that I’ve saved since we first opened the store almost 18 years ago!  I knew they would come in handy eventually :)  I decided to make some simple little zipper pouches for the two mamas-to-be.  Perfect for some diapers and wipes.  I love the way they turned out with the bright turqouise zipper!
Stay tuned for baby news!
Should I be worried I have a problem, that I saved these for 18 years…
Both these lovely mamas have their own blogs, also.

Something Old, Something New….

…isn’t that what people say when you’re re-branding?
Okay, I guess it’s traditionally used for weddings,
but it IS the perfect mantra for the next, exciting, few months at The Willows!
After 18 years, (I was 12 when I opened this store) we are giving ourselves a face-lift, but with less swelling.

We are working with the incredibly talented Kitchen Sink Studios to create a brand new website and online store.

The designers over at Kitchen Sink are coming up with great ideas and we can’t wait to unveil our new online look.

In the meantime, keep following our Blog, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
for the latest updates, sales, events, giveaways, inspiration and plain ol’ fun!

In fact, if you come in the store and shout “I can’t wait for the new website!!”
we will give you 20% off any regular priced item of apparel.

(Okay, okay, you don’t have to shout it, just mention this post)
Stay Tuned!

another great 4th of july!

This year with our big family week coming up at the end of July, Brian and I took a few grandkids over to the beach to celebrate the 4th on Balboa.  We had some surprise visitors when my son Al and his wife Mary decided to fly in last minute with our newest grandchild, Evangeline. Everyone had a wonderful time with lots of hours at the beach, paddle boarding, front row seats to the boat parade, trips to the toy store for swords, and lots of time to gush over the newest little miracle in our family.
It was a wonderful long weekend!

Happy 4th to everyone!
Hope yours was great!

summer travels {spain}

Our lovely Kim from the Willows went on an amazing trip to Spain this summer with her husband.  Her pictures from Barcelona and Madrid have us all more than a little jealous :)  She said the architecture was simply stunning everywhere you turned.  The Barcelona Cathedral in particular, she told us, was positively breathtaking…
Kim told us that the Retiro Park is her very favorite park in the entire world.  As you walk through the park you are not only surrounded by beauty and history, you also hear live music throughout the park!  It sounds like a dream.  When are the rest of us planning a trip?

And, of course, no trip is complete without enjoying the culinary delights of the region…
Bread, tapas, sangria and jamon!
And, as Kim said, “The perfect ending to the most amazing trip… an Espresso Martini simply done right!”
Thanks for sharing your trip with us, Kim!

summer travels {the hamptons}

This summer Susan Rose spent time with her family in the Hamptons.
Her pictures have us all wanting to plan a trip back east next summer…
A picture of Susan taking a picture…
^^ She said the light was like this for just a moment and then it changed and nothing was quite as green and perfect as it had been in just that exact, perfect moment.  ^^
Enjoying the beautiful greenery and back roads of the Hamptons…
Fresh produce stands along the side of the road…
Chicken question…
Is it wrong to eat a chicken salad sandwich, when one of its relatives is wandering around under the table?
Abundant flora in the Hamptons…
Where did you go this summer?  Where should we plan our next trip?

After the rain….

After our wonderfully gloomy weekend fresh blooms have popped up at The Willows!

How are you getting ready for Spring?
